Some of our future aims are outlined below

• To raise the profile of chemical education amongst professional chemists involved in teaching chemistry
• To explore issues of teaching and learning related to the subject
• To share new ideas on teaching and learning
• To disseminate information on conferences, meetings and seminars related to chemical education

• To increase participation in the chemical education section/division of the SACI biennial convention

 To organise seminars in chemical education conducted by chemical education researchers of note

• To encourage research into the scholarship of teaching chemistry
• To encourage publication in the education section of the South African Journal of Chemistry
• To reward achievement in the field of chemical education

  Clearly this is an ambitious set of aims and we plan to start small by addressing just a few of them in the short term by 4 proposed activities, viz

   An email distribution list with possible links to a bulletin board

  • Seminars on topics on chemical education in different centres
  • Participation in the biennial conference
  • Solicitation of publications for the South African Journal of Chemistry
