De Oude Kraal Country Estate and Spa is located on a working sheep farm, south of Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa. Experience the quietness, the beauty of nature, and the sound of the wind blowing the tree leaves. De Oude Kraal Colonial restaurant is in the original farmhouse with four meter high ceilings and wooden floors built in 1885 by a German missionary named Saltzmann, and added to by Judge A.J. Smit (Marie’s grandfather).
The separate dining rooms have open fireplaces and original antique furniture, some dating back to the early 1900's. As you walk through the old house you get to admire Gerhard and Marie’s stunning art collection, collected over the years.
The Spitbraai menu includes:
Finger snacks at arrival:
Chicken liver pate with home baked bread, Mieliepappoffers, peri-peri lamb ribs, etc.
Fresh “roosterkoek” with jam and butter.
Main meal: Lamb and chicken, vegetables, sweet-potato, “mieliepap” with sauce, salads etc.
