School of Chemistry

The School School of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science cordially invites applications for posts in the areas of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry (coordination or organometallic chemistry) and heterogeneous catalysis.

 

Qualifications: 

The minimum qualification for these posts is a PhD with post-doctoral or industrial experience, as well as expertise in the specified areas. For the Senior Lectureship, a proven independent research record with supervisory and academic teaching experience is required.

 

Duties: 

Duties entail teaching of general chemistry at first-year level, and teaching in all aspects of the appointee’s branch of chemistry to Honours level. The appointee is also expected to be an active researcher. For all advertised positions, fluency in written and spoken English is essential

Remuneration: 

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The package includes a provident fund, medical aid and bursaries, subject to University regulations. The successful applicants will be required to assume duties by 1 January 2011 at the latest.
